Our Approach to Responsible Sourcing

At Earl of Eton, our aim is to provide everyday affordable products while operating responsibly and ethically. We believe that value should never come at the expense of people, communities, or the environment. Our procurement and sourcing practices are designed to ensure that we work with suppliers who uphold high standards of ethical behaviour, environmental responsibility, and lawful business conduct. We are committed to fairness, transparency, and accountability throughout our supply chain.

Employment Practices

Earl of Eton expects all suppliers to respect fundamental employment rights. Employment must always be freely chosen, and there must be no use of forced, bonded, or involuntary prison labour. Workers must be free to leave their employment after providing reasonable notice, and employment relationships must be recognised and compliant with applicable national laws and accepted good practice. We also expect suppliers to respect freedom of association and not to prevent or discourage workers from joining trade unions or engaging in lawful collective representation.

Equality and Diversity

We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion across our supply chain. Earl of Eton seeks to work with suppliers who promote equal opportunities and who ensure that individuals and communities are treated with dignity and respect. Discrimination, harassment, or oppression of any kind is not tolerated.

Environmental Sustainability

Environmental responsibility is a core part of our procurement approach. Earl of Eton actively seeks to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency, and support more sustainable production practices. We aim to source materials responsibly, increase the use of recycled or recyclable materials, and adopt energy-efficient practices. All products and sourcing activities must comply with UK, EU, and international environmental regulations.

Bribery and Corruption

Earl of Eton operates a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. Any form of bribery, improper inducement, or corrupt behaviour is strictly prohibited, whether involving public officials or private individuals. This policy applies to all employees, directors, agents, contractors, and any parties acting on behalf of Earl of Eton.

Conflict of Interest

All business decisions at Earl of Eton must be made with integrity and in the best interests of the company. Reasonable hospitality may be acceptable where lawful and appropriate; however, any situation that could give rise to a conflict of interest must be handled transparently. Suspected or actual breaches of this policy will be investigated and addressed appropriately.

Sustainable Palm Oil

Earl of Eton recognises the environmental and social challenges associated with palm oil production. Where palm oil or palm-derived ingredients are present in our supply chain, we expect suppliers to source responsibly and work towards alignment with recognised sustainability standards such as those set by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. Transparency and traceability are key expectations.

No Deforestation Commitment

Earl of Eton is committed to eliminating deforestation from its supply chain. We seek to work with suppliers who share our zero-deforestation principles and who avoid the conversion of forests and high conservation value areas. Responsible land-use practices and conservation efforts are strongly encouraged.

No Development on Peatlands

We recognise the importance of peatlands as critical carbon sinks and ecosystems. Earl of Eton does not support development on peat soils and expects suppliers to identify, protect, and avoid areas classified as high carbon stock or high conservation value.

Transparency

Transparency is fundamental to building trust and accountability. Earl of Eton expects suppliers to provide clear and accurate information regarding sourcing, production processes, and sustainability commitments. We engage with suppliers and stakeholders to better understand and manage environmental and social risks.

No Exploitation of People or Communities

Earl of Eton has a zero-tolerance approach to the exploitation of people or communities. Forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, and abuse are strictly prohibited. Suppliers are expected to comply with internationally recognised labour standards and respect human rights at all times.

Supporting Smallholders and Women

Earl of Eton recognises the important role of smallholders and women in global supply chains. Where relevant, we encourage initiatives that promote economic empowerment, fair access to resources, skills development, and sustainable livelihoods, while protecting forests and natural ecosystems.

Sustainable Soy Sourcing

Earl of Eton is committed to responsible soy sourcing. We recognise the risks associated with unsustainable soy production and aim to work with suppliers who demonstrate responsible land management, traceability, and compliance with recognised sustainability standards.

Soy-Derived Ingredient Traceability

Transparency and traceability are essential within soy supply chains. Earl of Eton seeks to work with suppliers who can demonstrate responsible sourcing practices and who provide assurance that soy-derived ingredients are not linked to deforestation, illegal activity, or unsustainable practices.

GMO Policy

Earl of Eton understands consumer concerns regarding genetically modified organisms. Wherever possible, we aim to ensure that products are free from genetically modified ingredients and that all sourcing complies with applicable regulations and labelling requirements.

Modern Slavery Statement

Earl of Eton takes the issue of modern slavery and human trafficking extremely seriously. We are committed to preventing these practices within our business and supply chain through due diligence, monitoring, and clear expectations for ethical employment practices. Employment must always be voluntary, and workers must never be required to pay recruitment fees or surrender identity documents.

Our Ongoing Commitment

Earl of Eton regularly reviews and strengthens its policies to ensure continuous improvement. We encourage open communication and expect our employees, suppliers, and stakeholders to raise concerns where issues are identified. Through responsible sourcing and ethical practices, we remain committed to offering affordable everyday products while making a positive contribution to society and the environment.
